The annual Golf Day was held at Oak Gables Golf Course in Ancaster on June 7th. Mark Leonard did a masterful job of coordinating this year's Golf Day which saw 37 Golfers and 40 dinner guests turn out on a fabulous, sunny day!
Next year's Golf Day is planned for June 5, 2020 at Oak Gables and a formal announcement with details will be released early in the New Year!

Our sponsored a Summer Lunch at the Casablanca Winery Inn on July 23rd. We had 36 members and guests attend to enjoy a delicious Taste of Tuscany lunch and spectacular view of Lake Ontario from their Panorama Room. Thanks go out to Dave Miller for his yeoman work in planning and coordinating the lunch and to Penny Wirth who was our registration contact person.

Branch  Recruitment, Outreach and Advocacy

We congratulate the winners of our 2018 " Members Recruiting New Members" Campaign, Sharon Moffat ( newly recruited member) and Penny Wirth ( current member recruiter)! The Campaign was a success and we  look forward to the National recruiting drive to be announced in the Fall out of National Office. Current members who recruit a former colleague, friend or spouse will receive a prize and their name will go into a draw for a $10,000 trip voucher from our travel partner, Collette Travel.
National office will also be discounting the 2020 membership fee for any member who switches from paying their fees by cash or cheque, to deduction Direct at Source ( DDS) through the Pension Office. Look for details on both in Sage magazine and on the national website !

Our executive continue to look for opportunities to establish contacts in the area federal Offices, to provide information on the Association and Branch to current federal employees, and to partake in any planned local National Public Service Week activities. Dave Miller sent out over 25 information packages to local federal Offices and follow-up is planned targeting the larger federal facilities in and around Hamilton.
If you have any contact names and telephone numbers to assist in getting " our foot in the door", please contact Dave Miller.

Planning is underway with our partner Seniors organizations around Hamilton to host the 4th annual, United Nations sanctioned, Hamilton International Day of Older Persons ( I.D.O.P.). The event will be October 1st, at the David Braley Centre at the corner of Main and Bay Streets in downtown Hamilton. It is free of charge and we will invite various seniors Service organizations to come and
display their products and services. There will be speakers who will address retirement income security, health care for seniors  and Hamilton's Age Friendly City Project team. Lunch will be provided at no cost.

The I.D.O.P. planning committee members are planning an " All Parties" Town Hall the week of October 7th. Each Party will provide a sitting Member of Parliament, Cabinet Minister or Candidate. We plan to provide each an opportunity to address a series of questions around the theme of " sustainable services for seniors" with a focus on retirement income security, affordable health care, a national Pharmacare plan and a national seniors' strategy.
The Town Hall is planned for the David Braley Centre Auditorium at the corner of Main and Bay Streets. Details will be provided via E Notice and posted to our Branch website early in September.
